Beatrice Spadea’s practice explores
the intersections of imagination,
perception, and memory, investigating how these dimensions shape our
experience of the world. Her work
moves through spaces where dream,
fantasy, and poetry emerge, opening
reflective and alternative perspectives.
Her earlier works engaged with
shared natural and cosmic symbols,
which formed the starting point of
her research. Over time, her focus has shifted toward a sensory crisis and a
growing estrangement from the natural world, and how this disconnection
shapes inner life and perception. The
forest often appears as a central presence, understood as both a physical
and psychic space of renewal, coexistence, and resonance.
At the core of her current practice are textile works developed through
batik-dyed silks and hand-assembled
pieces on a loom. Through slow, process-based techniques, she explores
themes of identity, transformation,
and voice, allowing forms to frag-
ment, shift, and reorganize. Ceramic
sculptures and sound operate in
dialogue with the textile works, extending the investigation of resonance
and presence. Through these materials, she seeks to awaken perception and build an imaginary ecosystem
where matter and sound reconnect us
with the living world.

The project Rivedere la Foresta/Seeing the Forest Again began as a series of 10 drawings created in graphite and watercolor, from which a limited edition of high-quality prints was produced.
Seeing the Forest Again explores the complex relationship between human beings and the environment, focusing on the loss of sensory connection and its consequences. Each drawing conveys a tension between the fragility of the natural world and the potential for renewal, imagining new scenarios in which destruction gives way to reconstruction.
Created through layered colors and marks, the images reveal human shadows intertwined with branch-like forms, rib cages merging with fires, hands reaching toward the sky — elements that speak of loss, but also of an imaginative force capable of regeneration. Fantastic branches with unfamiliar shapes become symbols of rebuilding, evoking a future in which the relationship between humans and the surrounding world may find new forms of harmony.
The title suggests a movement from twilight into light, a journey toward a vision that transforms chaos into possibility. The forest thus becomes a symbol of memory and rebirth, a place to be seen again with new eyes.
Seeing the Forest Again is an invitation to reconsider our bond with the living world, not only as spectators but as custodians of a deep memory, and to imagine new, fantastic ecosystems that speak of life, memory, and future.
